MEETING FACILITIES

All academic activities take place at UNIRA auditorium, INECOL (see map). This auditorium is located by the "Clavijero" Botanical Garden.

INECOL is one of the scientific research institutes in the CONACYT federal system. Seven buildings house several facilities and amenities, including the herbarium (XAL, building A), research labs, a greenhouse, classrooms for our Graduate program, a library, administration offices,  two coffee shops and a self service food stand.

Presentations for paper sessions

UNIRA auditorium is equipped to provide presenters the opportunity to deliver computer-based presentations as a standard presentation option. All contributed paper sessions will be projected using a DLP and a computer with Windows XP PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Be sure and double check your presentation file, specially if carried over from Macintosh to Windows.

File format could be either PPT or PDF.  File name should be a composite of session number and last name of first author of paper: "1_Holt.ppt" or "1_Holt.pdf".

Files should be accepted on CD-ROM or on USB jump drives. Please deliver your files at registration on Sunday or at least one hour before your session.

Other equipment (35 mm slide projectors, overhead projectors) will NOT be standard.  If absolutely needed, we will try to make it available, but please let us know by July 1st.

Posters

Posters will be on display at the Exhibition Hall to the right of the auditorium during designated times in the Program.

Bulletin boards for posters are vertical. Posters should measure up to 95 cm wide and up to 120 cm vertical. Please note that the poster space is LONGEST in the VERTICAL (up-down) dimension. So a "portrait" type poster will fit the space better rather than the "landscape" shaped one. Materials may be secured with push-pins.

Lunch

Attendees will have several options for lunch, on site or in nearby Coatepec and Xalapa.

1. There is a small coffee shop right there at the Botanical Garden. It offers sandwiches ("tortas", "baguettes"), salads, fruit, drinks, etc. Average lunch is ca mex $ 20.

2. Another coffee shop (same menu) is located outside the library on building B, second level. Smoking is allowed there.

Sitting space at both coffee shops is reduced. You might just want to buy your lunch, stretch your legs walking through the botanical garden and find your spot!

3. If you prefer to be indoors, sit at the local food stand for a typical mexican meal. This facility is located in front of the Posgrado building. It operates regularly from 10 am to 4:00 pm for INECOL employees and visitors. It is crowded during the official lunch break (2:00 - 2:30 pm).  Meal consists of two options of soup, two or three options of main dish, and a drink. Depending on choices, price is about mex $25.
