General information for the workshop

INECOL location:
The "Instituto de Ecología, AC (INECOL) is located along the old road to Coatepec, about 2 miles southwest of Xalapa.

Transportation will be provided to participants between Hotel and INECOL.

Schedule and classroom:
Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6:30 pm. Classes and practicals will take place at the Computer Room, third floor, Bldg E (Edificio E, Posgrado). 





Lunch: 1pm to 2 pm.  Available  for <US$3 in a food court for INECOL employees, located  in front of Bldg. E.   Other options include  two coffee shops, one located in Bldg B, second floor by the Library, and another at the Botanical Garden entrance. They offer sandwiches and salads.

Format:
Lectures and computer lab practice. Alternating lectures and lab sessions will offer the opportunity for a deeper understanding of the logic, theory and methods under parsimony, likelihood and Bayesian approaches.

In general, computer lab sessions (PCs and/or Macs will alternate with lectures. main topics include tree search strategies, support measures, DNA sequence alignment, morphological character coding, and advanced analyses.
